Hilary Penko for Mayor of Red Deer

I think about the kind of Red Deer that I want to live in. What would I change if I had the ability? What we have now is pretty darn good. But there are some things that I would love to investigate and implement if it is feasible.

• Running a self funded Green Campaign-no signage with few brochures
• Promote the City becoming Greener
• Safer Roads
• Snow / Ice Removal
  Move snow off roads, not only for Emergency Crews and Vehicles, but for the convenience of the average citizen. You should not have to have a 4x4 to drive on your own street. Increased sanding of the intersections and roads as required.
• Transparency
  Tax transparency, not just a pie chart, but an easy to follow breakdown of where tax money is going on your tax bill.
• Promote accountability and fiscal responsibility!
• Return emphasis to safe communities, encouraging Community Associations to take a more active role and promoting Neighbourhood Watch. People are more likely to pay attention to what is going on in their neighbourhoods if they know their neighbours.
